Setting up emulator for s60 3rd ed

- Go to forum.nokia.com and log in ( registration needed ).
- Click S60 Platform
- Click Tools and SDKs
- download Carbide.c++Express v1.1
- download S60 Platform SDKs for Symbian OS,for C++
- Unzip S60-SD K-200634-3.1-Cpp-f.1090.zip
- Inside the zip there is S60_CPP_SDK_3rd_FP1_InstallationGuide_1.0.pdf
- Open it and follow the steps in that, this takes about 20min. The Helloworld demo was built
without errors but it did not open in the emulator.

Now you have Carbide.c++ Express v1.1 and emulator installed. You can run the emulator
Start / All Programs / S60 Developer Tools / ....... / Emulator

Emulator behaves like a phone with the default applications, Contacts, Messages, Web browser etc.

Setting up S60 Python interpreter into the emulator

Emulators directory C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\Epoc32\winscw\c\
is emulating C: drive in the phone.

- download Pys60 1.3.18 from http://sourceforge.net/projects/pys60/
- unzip PythonForS60_1_3_18_SDK_3rdEd_selfsigned.zip into some temporary directory
- unzip sdk_files.zip into temporary directory
- there will be epoc32 directory with four subdirectories
- compare SDKs epoc32 directory structure to your Emulator installation directory
C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\Epoc32
- copy all files from the corresponding PyS60 SDK epoc32 subdirectories to corresponding
C:\Symbian\9.2\S60_3rd_FP1\Epoc32\ subdirectories
- start emulator and go to Installed folder, you should see Python Icon there now
- run Python and run python scripts in the same way as in the phone
